3 Things You Should Know Before Speaking with Your Personal Injury Attorney

For most injured victims, meeting with a Personal Injury Attorney may be their first experience dealing with the legal world. There are a few things that most Personal Injury Attorneys would like every client to know regarding their first appointment.

1. Make a List:  Before coming to the attorney’s office for the first time, know what questions and concerns you want to ask about before you arrive.  This shows the lawyer that you are prepared and organized. It also helps to ensure that you don't forget any important questions you may have.

2. Bring All Paperwork Related to Your Case.  You can avoid some initial delays by bringing all the paperwork you have regarding your case. This includes, the police report, the at fault driver's insurance information, your own insurance information, accident & injury pictures, witness statements, estimates for damage to your vehicle, medical bills and medical notes from the Emergency Room, Ambulance, Radiology Bills, or other Doctors. Tracking down paperwork or "evidence" can be one of the most time consuming parts of your case.

3. Be Prepared to Tell the Truth.  Tell your attorney ALL the facts of the accident, even those that may not weigh in your favor. Remember, your attorney is here to help you, and cannot give you accurate advice without knowing ALL of the facts. This rule also applies to telling your attorney about your previous medical history and any other accidents or legal matters you have been involved with. Just keep in mind, your attorney is on your side. There is no judgment. Few people in life have a pristine history with absolutely no previous medical conditions :)
