Professional Experience
Before joining APILG, I worked in many roles. I started as a high school intern at the most prominent law firm in my home town of Kingstree, SC. From there I pursued a paralegal’s degree at Florence-Darlington Technical College. I worked for nearly 6 years in my home town law firm where all areas of law were covered (personal injury, probate/wills, family law, and real estate just to name a few).
From there, my family and I relocated to “the city” … Columbia, SC. Over the next 14 years, I expanded my knowledge and gained experience as a personal injury paralegal, plaintiff’s litigation paralegal, defense litigation paralegal, employment law paralegal, family law paralegal, probate paralegal, and criminal law paralegal. In South Carolina, I was an active member of the Palmetto Paralegal Association for years and held several positions within the association. I also taught seminars geared to training legal assistants and paralegals. During my career, I trained and mentored dozens of legal assistants and paralegals.
After relocating to Georgia in 2009, I focused on personal injury cases with particular interest and training on trucking cases (pre-litigation and litigation). For a few years, I dabbled in insurance defense to see what it was like on the “dark side”. I soon found my way back to the plaintiff’s side helping injured clients. I realized the plaintiff’s side of the law was where my heart and soul was most at ease.
Being Part of the Atlanta PI Team
My favorite part of being a part of APILG is I have the opportunity to assist the owner in developing policies and procedures to further advance the firm. I enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge with the staff members.
Why Personal Injury?
After working in many areas of the law, I chose personal injury, because helping people during difficult times bring joy to my soul.
The Firm
I enjoy the freedom of being able to develop professionally. APILG is all about helping staff members find their strengths and then expounding upon them.
Communication
The “Team Concept” at APILG is second to none. We truly take a team approach to each file from intake to settlement. We have team check-ins three times a week and we even break down into smaller mini-meetings when necessary to discuss and resolve issues on cases.
Dedication
I am dedicated to assisting the firm in obtaining the maximum settlement for each client. I am Accountable to the firm and clients; I am Driven to achieve the goals set by the firm; I strive to work as Efficiently as possible; I am a person of Integrity with the firm and our clients; I show Compassion to our clients; I strive to be Proactive instead of reactive; and I strive each day to bring a Positive attitude to the firm and the clients we serve.
At a time when so many things were uncertain in the world, APILG did not miss a beat representing our injured clients. When the pandemic struck the State of Georgia, we were able pivot within 24 hours, reposition our team, and push forward for our clients. This is what we do at APILG.
